It’s easier to feel/see other people’s denials than your own, and while that’s a start, the second part of this experience is that you need to ask yourself. What am I denying expressing? If I’m denying, then why… and the questions go on and on. Probably the first on the list is the fear of expression. It’s easier to be real with strangers than with friends, family and one’s intimate partner. Becoming aware of your denials, and choosing to end them, is a step toward self-empowerment.
